Another point about the onsides kick. Lee committed a foul by blocking our guys before the ball had gone 10 yards-

Eligibility to Block
ARTICLE 12. No kicking team player may block an opponent until the kicking team is eligible
to touch a free-kicked ball. (A.R. 6-1-3-II)

This morning Coach Fortune said Lee was offsides on the kick as well. I can't see it well enough on the footage however.

Some controversy on the onside kick attempt that Lee thought they got. Lee's Coach Hartman-

"The problem I have is with the onside kick. When we catch it on the inside of the ball, all the (Permian) coaches get around (the refs) and they talk them out of it. The (official) on my side says, ‘Coach, he got it on this side of the ball.’ That’s a big call. When I mess up and they’re right, then I will call and apologize to each and every one of them.”

This did not happen, and I'll hopefully show it on video (I screwed up and accidently hit the record button twice, so I missed it. But it's on HUDL). The ref on our side IMMEDIATELY ruled that the Lee player touched the ball just shy of 10 yards. Remember it's where the ball is, not the player's feet. But the big thing is the ref did not hesitate, and then make the call only after our coaches lobbied him, as Hartman is insinuating. He immediately made the call.

BTW- technically we are co-champs with Lee. But we were given the district trophy after the game.  ;D

EDIT- it  dawned on me that Lee may have been given one too, but I did not see them with one after the game.

Watching footage of Wednesday practice, 25 and 2 both look to be ready to play.

I think 2 is still out.

I may be wrong. I'm out of town so I missed the booster club meeting, but Coach Ellison reportedly said when asked about 2 "everyone (other than those with season ending injuries) is good to go".

Matt Stepp from DCTF believes the 6A/5A cutoff will be 2205.

Goodbye Tascosa, hello San Angelo Central.

Yeah, we need to throw the ball occasionally. The defense played a pretty good game, but the offense did not deliver.

With 25 likely to sit, and 2 out again as well, we may struggle again vs Lee.
